Surface 03 · Finance
Planned, actual, invoiced, paid, in that order.
The invoice line and the estimate are the same object at different ages. Figures convert at the job's booking rate, so a company running several currencies still reads one number, and every number states where it came from.
The revenue ledger
Four figures that cannot contradict each other.
Planned, actual, invoiced and paid are read from the same lines rather than assembled in a spreadsheet at month end, so the order holds by construction: each figure is a later state of the one before it.
- Every figure states the job, the line and the rate behind it
- A gap is named as a gap, so nobody reads a missing figure as zero
- Reporting currency is a scope, converted at the job's booking rate
- Money and quantities are set in tabular figures, so columns line up
What finance covers
From the estimate to the settled invoice.
Where it comes from
A figure is only as good as the record behind it.
The estimate written in planning, the tools picked in operations and the runs logged offshore are the source of every number on this surface. Nothing is re-entered, which is why the question of what a job actually earned has an answer.
Bring a job you have already invoiced.
We will rebuild it in Wellplanner from estimate to invoice and you can check the figures against what you actually billed.
