Surface 02 · Operations

Every serial carries its own location and its own history.

Workshop preparation, QA, load out, shipping and return, tracked per serial rather than per line item. A tool carries its run count across BHAs and across jobs.

The workshop

Nothing ships without a QA sign-off against it.

A basket arrives, the tools in it are received one serial at a time, inspection and QA are recorded against the serial, and only then is a tool ready to be picked for the next string. The queue is the base's worklist for the day.

  • Receipt, inspection, QA and readiness are separate recorded states
  • The two stores stay in step, so a tool is in exactly one place
  • A failed inspection blocks the pick rather than warning about it
  • Crew certificates and their expiry sit on the person, not on a spreadsheet

What operations covers

From the base to downhole and back again.

Fleet Where a serial is right now: in the workshop, in a basket, on a vessel, on the rig, downhole, or on its way back.
Basket receipt and return Basket by basket, then tool by tool, so a basket is received in one action and what came back is reconciled against what went out rather than counted at the end of a job.
Failed tools flagged home A failure report names every tool it took with it, with the crew's photos. Each serial stays flagged on the fleet, in returns and in the workshop until someone has inspected it and written down what they found.
Jobs on the rig Live work grouped by rig, with downhole counts per assembly and the run log the office reads while the crew is still on tour.
The tool catalogue Each company's own part catalogue, with dimensions, connections, ratings, materials and the product datasheet on the part itself.
Crew certificates Held per person with an expiry date and surfaced in Crew sixty days ahead, before the person is mobilised. Certificates per tool serial are not built yet.
One page per serial Every run across every job, every failure, every move and every inspection, and the catalogue part it is an instance of, on the tool itself rather than scattered across the jobs it was on. It is also what the reliability work is built on.

Where it hands over

The serial is the thread through the whole job.

Because a tool is never re-keyed, the serial that was quoted is the serial that shipped, ran and came back. That is what lets finance bill from the same lines that were estimated, and what makes failure and wear analysis possible at all.

Show us a basket you shipped last month.

We will receive it, run it through QA and track it out to the rig in Wellplanner, with your part numbers and your serials.
